Unapt Grain

Program Note

The work Unapt Grain (2023) explores timbres and delicate timing manipulations. The piece begins with sounds resembling an owl-call, but builds into strange passacaglia patterns that keep recurring. Finally the composition ends by the return of the owl-call.
The piece Unapt Grain is written with C++ and a synthesis software built by the author. Though mostly sound-based, the work features also pitched material which slowly evolves in a microtonal way. The pitched sounds grow from a 'seed' interval in a process which is dynamic. (The word-pair in the title is a key to a 5x5 word square.)
